Background

In 2001, Centro Europeo de Empresas e Innovación de Navarra (CEIN, European Centre for Enterprise and Innovation) asks Beta Lyrae to create an application able to help professionals to record their invoices. As a result, Ábaco 1.0 was released.

The system

Release of different versions followed, leading to Ábaco 2.0, the current Ábaco version , which can:

• Register invoices
• Store and exploit customer and suppliers' data.
• Store and manage data regarding public grants received.
• Calculation of quarterly and annual VAT declarations
• Calculation of quarterly and annual IRPF declarations
• Obtaining data necessary to fill other Spanish fiscal documents.

All of it comes into a multi-company application, with the possibility of saving in a simple way backup copies of all stored data.

The application also includes an updater module, which can update Ábaco software through the Internet each time an improvement or change is made, thus automatically updating Ábaco applications on a high number of users' computers.

Technical specifications

The application was developed on top of the Java platform, with Beta Lyrae own desktop application infrastructure. This will allow launching Ábaco Macintosh and Linux version in the near future.

An intuitive, easy to use multi-window system allows users to get the maximum from their data, as well as entering it in a simple way.
